Step-by-Step Guide for Common Rooms:

1. Measure the length of the room in metres.
2. Measure the width of the room in metres.
3. Multiply length × width to get the total floor area in square metres.
4. Add an extra 5-10% to the total area to allow for cutting, waste and pattern alignment.

For L-shaped or irregular rooms:

1. Sketch a rough layout of the space and divide it into manageable rectangles or squares.
2. Measure each section separately (length and width).
3. Multiply each section’s length by width to get its area.
4. Add up the areas of all sections to get the total floor area.
5. Don’t forget to add the waste allowance (5-10% or more if there are many cut-outs).
